Ravebo (Rotterdam, Holland) and Sambu Engineering (Korea) recently started their cooperation between the two companies, where Ravebo will be the Sales Representative in The Netherlands for Sambu’s products.

Sambu designs, develops and produces in-house maritime equipment such as (mooring) winches, steering gear, pneumatic and electric driven cranes & davits, as well as their explosion-proof solution for motorization; pneumatic motors.

They offer greater power density (a smaller pneumatic motor can provide the same amount of power as a larger electric motor), do not require an auxiliary speed controller (adding to its compactness), generate less heat, and can be used in more volatile atmospheres as they do not require electric power and do not create sparks. They can be loaded to stop with full torque without damages.

Pneumatic motors are a great solution for volatile atmospheres such as:
- Explosion risked
- Inflammable gas
- High temperatures
- High humidity

As written they offer a greater power density compared to electric motors and besides that they also generate less heat.
They contain fewer parts than an electric motor, which reduces the chance of defects and makes them very durable. Full time operation can be performed and it makes the motors suitable for rough conditions, such as on gangways.
They are designed to be easy exchangeable with electric motors and can be connected to any sufficient compressed air source.

The standard air motors range from 1.1 kW to 18,3 kW with torques ranging up to 500 Nm’s. The RPM’s and output shaft type can be compiled according to customer’s specifications.
The motors are available in four shapes:
- Standard type; with a control valve
- Remote control type; with a remote control valve
- Flange type; with a flange and auto-return control valve
- Brake type; with a disk brake and auto-return control valve

What makes Sambu and Ravebo very similar is they vision on quality and safety. Therefore, also Sambu is DNV ISO9001 certified, as well as ABS and Bureau Veritas certified for their welding procedures.
