Ravebo was called by a company with the question: Can you please help us with a Servomex 1800 O2 analyzer that wasn’t working on one of their tanker vessels berthed in South-Korea.

Via telephone conference with the client we set down some troubleshooting questions, for which the vessel responded by e-mail with their outcome.

After careful analysis of the vessels responses, we set up a simulation of the problem on our workbench test unit. It became quite clear that at least one of the problems was situated within the power supply module and a transfer pcb.

After reaching this conclusion we immediately despatched the required spare parts out to the vessel as we hold all the necessary spares on stock.

The next day we received an email that the system still was not fully operational. The unit was giving false readings and behaving erratically. We were then requested to immediately mobilize an engineer to attend the vessel in South-Korea.

Anticipating the unexpected we took extra spares with us, just in case some other part was also found to be defective.

Within 24 hours of being requested, we arrived at the vessel and immediately started with our investigation of the unit. This included taking readings from within the circuitry at the terminals and actual O2 measurements. Within a short period of time it was discovered that the measuring cell was also defective and would have to be replaced.

After replacing the cell and calibrating the unit the system was fully operational and the vessel could continue on its schedule.

Crew and Owner were very satisfied with the assistance and response from both our office and service engineer.
