This level gauge is being used up to 20 bar, it consists of:
• a brass upper part with steam valve which is flange connected to the steamside of the boiler;
• a brass lower part with water valve which is flange connected to the waterside of the boiler;
• an in between mounted sightglass (outside diameter approximately 20 mm).
The steam and watertight closure of the glass is obtained by special rubber rings, called Woodite rings. The rubber ring is pressed with a bronze washer and a nut in the packing room. The lower frame is provided with a basket having a pellet. Holes are provided in the basket. When the breaking of the glass of the ball is pushed upward and closes the opening in the ring, so that the hot water boiler can’t spray out. In operating conditions, the three tap handles are always directed downwards.
